Rope cranking

I will soon have a boat with a '96 Yamaha 115, 4stroke . My question is can this engine be rope started in a battery failure situation. I know a 50hp can.

Maybe if you have a couple of friends to help pull the rope - but technically possible..

it can be rope started......AND....it starts easer when you have the ignition key ON !! (lesson learned the hard way)

carry a jump start pack with you and you will not need to rope start the motor.

as big daddy posted...get a jump start pack, and take it with you every outing. since my 'rope pull" episode, i have found it very usefull in helping other boaters, and one time, in the parking lot with a guy that left his lights on after launching his boat. it's good insurance.
