No didnt mess with switch on back didnt think it would need to be what should switch need to be on havent checked with meter not quite sure how to bases on hummingbird on console showing its charging based on speck in omc service manual

1.wrong rectifier or hooked up wrong or defective rectifier...an electrical device dont get much simpler than that..its just a full wave unfiltered rectifier...are the wires on the new and old ones the same colors?

Defective regulator. 1 of the diodes in it is not working. Good luck on a replacement or refund on electrical parts.

Edit

Try to coat the flat mounting surface, if it has 1, with with a thin coating of thermal paste to carry the heat away when the battery is low voltage. Maximum charge currents can over heat the dry mounting surfaces. You can also put some clean, NO dirt specks, front wheel bearing grese on them before mounting it.

200 bucks for what?must be a regulator and not just a rectifier..and 200 is too much for even that...rectifier only systems fail much more often than a regulator but i would not replace either on a maintenance basis...there are two things that will hurt either one....hook either up backwards and they are history...the other thing i would not do except on a emergency basis is charge a low battery with them..use them to maintain a battery...have the battery charged when you put the boat in the water..more current equals more heat...
