Question on 9.9 johnson 1990

I have a 1990 Johnson 9.9 hp I know the pee hole is up on the side of motor. But it also has a hole there under the power head in the casing that has a cover over it. Is there supposed to be any water coming out of that.

It will spit out of that hole when warmed up.----Likely a lot more at full throttle on the boat.

Test run on a boat or in a test tank with water 8" above the impeller.----A blown head gasket can cause issues.----So a compression test should be done.-----Check head bolt torque.

I took it back apart. Put it all back together put it in a 55 gallon drum. Ran it for while with no issues. Now I'll take it back to Lake and see what it will do. Thanks. I'll let you know

Did you check or replace the impeller? Thermostat?
