power tilt/trim issue

have a 1984 Evinrude 50 hp E50PL4EE......was out today, and everything was working fine. went back to the boat for another ride, and the power tilt/trim was not working, either on the throttle lever, or on the engine cover. was 100% earlier, then gone. is there an electrical issue i can look for, before starting to chase a hydraulic cause??
 
Check any fuses you find on the motor or for any wires that may have separated.

Place a finger on a relay and feel for a 'bump' as the contacts close. You can pull them and reinstall them to scrub off corrosion and try again.
Wiggle the leads and clean battery terminals too, I've had a ring terminal separate from the wire, but the heat shrink made it appear intact. Tug and wiggle, push and wiggle.
If no change, look for the two wire connector and use a test light or meter from one pin to ground while operating switch. If you have voltage; move to T&T motor and apply 12v to one wire or the other, if no motor operation; motor is dead.
