piston question

i have a 93 merc 40 horse with three ring pistons. one piston was damaged so i ordered a new one and a two ring piston showed up, will this piston work okay or should i send it back?

No problem. I have two, two ring and one three ring piston in my triple at the moment. Compression is the same.

Make sure you determine and correct the cause of the damage to the piston or you could fry your new one.

The damaged piston is the "result" of some upstream problem...
