There seems to be a need for some sort of shimming on the shaft itself before the main gear. This is in addition to the shims that go between the upper housing and the bearing carrier or bearing cup. If all components, bearings and gears, are pressed on the shaft the assembly will not fit into the upper housing. The small bearing is about one eight inch too far out. By spacing the gear about an eighth inch the shaft is moved back and it can be made to fit but there is nothing between the gear and the shaft to hold it in place. I hope this makes some sense.
