We have an 81 Viking with a 3.8 OMC, and 800 series stern drive. Family took it out last week, and it started acting up. It ran fine for awhile, then when they went to re-start it no luck. Got a tow to shore and made it home. So, we have replaced the plugs, wires, coil, cap, points, rotor, and condensor. I have excellent fire coming out of the coil, but only for a brief second at the wires. We are using 8mm accel wires, made for use with a coil, not HEI. Anyone have any input please? Any help is greatly appreciated, otherwise the next stop is the local marine store ans $$$.
