Oil/water filter separation

I just wonder if this part is really just an ordinary oil filter. Can I just install a regular oil filter in there?

The fuel filter media is specific for fuel. An oil filter is not.

These so called Marine Fuel/Water separating filters don't do an adequate job, IMO.
If you're after a more real fuel/water separating filter system, look at the Parker/RACOR Marine filters.

Thank you Recardo, this is the answer I was looking for. One other question. What do I need to watch out for when I replace this filter? Is the fuel going spill on me under pressure? TIA.
