I recently purchased a 1990 115hp Mariner with low compression in the bottom cylinder. The motor runs as is. I just ordered the manual for it. Any advice for someone who doesn't regularly work on outboard motors? I am assuming the power head must be split? Hopefully just hone and new rings. Anything else I should do while its apart? Any pitfalls to watch out for along the way?
I am interested in possibly doing the oil injection delete and premixing the fuel. Does anyone have a procedure for the oil injection delete? What ratio does the motor need?
The motor did not come with a prop. What do I need to look for that is geared more towards power rather than speed?
