Mystery hose

I have a 2000 Johnson Ocean Pro 130...

In the process of diagnosing a running problem, I came across a hose to nowhere.

Having removed the air inlet cowl, I found 2 hoses, one which sits loosely in the cowl, which I assume is some kind of breather. The other is as shown and I have no idea what it is or if it's supposed to be connected to something.

Anyone ID this mystery hose?

A vent that goes into intake cowl,should be a hole in cowl for it.

I don't see any holes. The hose on the other side just sits loosely in the inlet. Does this one just sit in the other side?

There should be a nipple on the air box where that hose attaches.
