I have a 2002 200hp Evinrude (Bombadier) Ficht motor that will stop dead for no reason. You can cruise the lake for 45 minutes to an hour with no problems, going any speed you want but once the motor has been shut off and restarted you're going to have a problem. After restarting you can count on having about 5 to 10 minutes before the motor shuts down, just like you've turned off the ignition. No warning indicators like temperature, low oil or voltage are given before the shutdown event. After the motor dies, you can try to restart it but will not hear any clicking from the starter until after you allow it a 10 minute cooldown.
I had a qualified dealer replace the fuel pump, fuel line, primer bulb, and refilled the tank with new gas but the problem still exists. It's almost like an electrical short causes a loss of power to the motor and kills the engine immediately. The dealer has no idea what is causing the problem. Any suggestions?
