So I upgraded my 1983 Mariner 115hp I6 to a 1994 Johnson 140hp V4. I unplugged the 5 wire plug for the tach from the controller, and then gave the controller to the new owner. And then I installed the Johnson and controller, which has a 3 wire connector. So I opened up the leftover Mariner plug and extracted the gray, purple, and black wires to connect to the Johnson controller. Tach works fine, but now my lights are coming on with the ignition. There are 2 wires leftover: salmon and brown/white. What are those for? Thanks.
