lower bearing carrier

I can't get my Bearing carrier past the lower gear housing threads. It looks like it's about a quarter-inch short of seating. the drive shaft works fine and shifts in forward and reverse. the retainer nut stops suddenly and won't push it that last hairline. Have you had this problem or aware of this problem? am i missing something?

Why are you doing this? What was wrong and what did you do to repair it?
Try not to leave out ANY details

is the oring just need lubing where it seats? There is a spacer collar on the shaft wonder if that is getting caught on a lip.
