I have a 1999 Johnson 50 hp and I'm baffled. It won't get over 2500 rpm under load But runs just as smooth as can be.The vro was removed a few years ago and ran great before this. I took the boat out and everything was fine. I put the throttle down and blah. I barely made it back. Since then its had a new fuel pump filter and have gone thru the carbs. I turned to a possible ignition problem so I pulled up specs and diagrams. I got out my dvom and started testing. The stator had on bad coil so it got replaced. The timing trigger checked out fine and while I was at it the coil got replaced. I was a Diesel mechanic for 30 years so I am not a stranger to engines, but gas engines drive me nuts. I have not checked the power pack as of yet. I hope some one can give me some direction
