Hi all - so im preparing to have all my ducks in a row this weekend to get motor going and setting it up -

according to the manual, the first step is the primary pickup synchronizing -

"Crank the engine with the cranking
motor, and at the same time, move the
throttle arm until the throttle primary pickup
specification on the timing decal is aligned
with the timing pointer."

not quite sure what they mean here? do they mean the 464 mark or something? or the sticker on flywheel? i know i have to set it at 28 cranking (max advance)

there is no decal anywhere.. the primary pickup is the plastic cam on the carb pickup right? the first "bump"?

I think i can do the rest, i have setup a timing pointer using the piston stop method, and set cranking advance, max advance and max WOT stop for the butterflies, but this step doesnt quite make sense?

I think basically the timing has to advance a few degrees before carbs kick in? is that what they mean here?

so far i have:

  1. This step above? primary pickup
  2. disconnect throttle and remove plugs - set max spark (28 degrees at cranking)
  3. set max WOT and carb butterflies at 90 degrees (fully open)

Anything else im missing? im sure this is easy but still running circles around my head!
