Leaking carb 97 evinrude 8hp

Hello, all! I was having fuel problems on my 97 Evinrude 8hp 2-stroke, and replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carb. Now, I've got it all back together and it appears to run fine and hi-speed, mid-range or idle. However, there is a strong leak, pushing out about 1/2 cup a minute that appears to be coming from an orifice of some sort about 1/2 inch in diameter on the right hand side of the carb, just above the place where the carb body separates from the float bowl, above the choke linkage. See the photo attached. The hole is below the number "340833" and looks like it is covered with some sort of mesh. I haven't found this fitting shown in any manual, or on a parts list. What am I looking at, what does it do, and how do I stop the leaking fuel? The float drop is about 1.3 inches (correct per manual), and the float appears level (I don't have the OMC part to measure the float height).
