Kill Switch install

I have a 1995 mercury 2.0 L 135 hp outboard. Boat did not come with a kill switch. I am trying to install a Kill switch near the ingnition switch. Tried a couple of wires noting. Any feedback what to look for / wire colors thanks.

the black/yellow stripe wire is grounded to kill the ignition...

agree with Kimcrwbr1 on any voltage on the black/yellow stripe wire...it is either floating or grounded...when you turn the key on it is floating...when the key is off it is grounded..same way with the kill switch...it grounds the wire to kill the fire to the engine...

Last question. I should be connecting the kill switch to the throttle and not the ignition switch? Yes or no.

is this a tiller or remote control/steering etc motor?are you sure you dont already have a kill switch installed?
