johnson 120 1991 lower mounts

so i replaced the port lower mount last year. it sucked to say the least. cutting bolts, getting the old one out by drilling and tapping middle metal areas and forcing out. on to the starboard this year and bolts came out fine. but could not get the mount out for the life of me. anyway, i finally did... but realized i drilled thru back of mount cavity. i tapped in a stainless bolt, cutoff and then jb welded over it. seems good. think it'll be ok? see pics.

also, anyone know why there's an existing hole just forward of where i drilled? thanks
