Is there an adjustment for slack/cable?

2001 Mercruiser 4.3 2bbl carb. When trolling, when trying to slow, there is a lot of movement in the handle before the motor slows. Abute 3/4 inch from touching faster to going slower. Cables are fine, the play is in the control. My old outboard had an adjustment for this. Is that option available on this Mercruiser controler?The control handle tension is ok.

It has been awhile for me and that engine. The throttle cable should have a slack adjustment at the bracket holding the cable before the carb.
