Horn is silent

I am going batty trying to get the horn to work. I get power to the new switch. I get power past that to the horn. Nothing works. The switch seems to get real hot, real fast. I am obviously missing a step. Any suggestions??

Ayuh,.... Is there a Ground wire hooked to the horn,..??

If the switch is gettin' Hot,... Battery test the horn,... It might be shorted out...

Yes there is a ground to the horn. Do you mean the horn is shorted or the switch. I just bought a new switch. Will the horn work straight from battery? I haven't tried that.

Ayuh,... Hot wire the horn, directly to a battery, 'n it oughta Blow, Yes....

nope. no horn. I guess it's dead. I will have to see if I can figure out how to revive it.

About every two years or so my horn stops working. I remove it, take it appart, and clean everything. Depending on the type of horn you have, you'll likely find the the breaker points are corroded shut.
