"I bought a used 1999 BF90AT S
"I bought a used 1999 BF90AT Serial number BBBL1007362. No water was coming out of the pee hole so I purchased a water pump service kit from Sierra for $ 28.00 and had the local Honda dealer install it. It was a conversion kit for part# 06192-ZW1-305 that included 2 gaskets and an impeller. The Honda kit price was $ 198.00 at the local dealer. Now the pee hole has a lot of cold water coming out but the motor shuts down from the automatic overheat mechanism and the red light and alarm comes on over 4,000 rpm. Also, when I first took it out after the repair, the tach indicated that it was reving over 6400 rpm but the boat wasn't going any faster. The motor never ran over 5600 rpm before. Did the Honda shop put the motor back together wrong, or are the aftermarket parts wrong? I know that my fuel ball is weak, but that wouldn't cause overheating would it? Thanks for any help."
