Help please lower unit removal dt30c

i want to replace my water pum

i want to replace my water pump impeller on my suzuki dt30 (1992) i have changed the impeller on a yamaha before and the gear linkage just slips off and on but i am told the suzuki had a rod that need to be disconnected any body give me tips where to disconnect it
