GM V8 thermostat

I've got a 6.2 GM V8 diesel that came without a stat in it, anyone know the part number or which stat will work, also what would happen if it was run without one?

Should be able to get them from any GM diesel parts source. I'd go with at least a 160 degF stat, a 180 or 190 would improve efficiency.

Running without the stat isn't good as the engine isn't likely to get to operating temperature. biggest maintenance concern in this case is the accumulated moisture never gets purged. A used oil analysis will quantify this. the other drawback is the engine will never obtain max power if it isn't up to its designed operating temperature.
