General Question on Motor Set up on Flat Bottom boat...1991 35hp

I have a J-14 Carolina Skiff with a '91 Force 35hp. How do you properly set up the mounting height for an outboard installed on a flat bottom hull?

I have found lots of info on "V" hull set up and so I set my motor up where the cavitation plate is about 1/2" lower than the bottom of the hull. I have an adjustable jack plate installed since the Force shaft length was too long for my hull.

If anything....I think I need to lower the motor more? Any input is greatly appreciated!

The cavitation plate should be even or just below the bottom1/2 in at the max.Jerry
