Gas gauge inop

My fuel gauge stop working the other day while using the boat,want down below e and never worked since .

I checked the wires on sending unit look good when i turn key off and on i get a liitle needle jump on gauge but that's it.

What is the best way to test sending unit or gauge???

Boat is a 96 rinker fiestva 212 ..

Also the tach has it own mind it jumps around at times should be at idle it,s past 6000 rpm and sometimes it work fine this problem is been on going for sometime ..

If they're not Faria gauges, there's no hope.
It's prolly a loose connection like a bad ground wire.

Take sender wire off top of sender on tank and short to ground. You should get full gauge sweep. That indicates good wiring, gauge and ground at tank. Check tank connections and connections at back of gauges. If all seems good, likely the sender and will have to be pulled out to be properly tested or fluid levels in tank changed to take resistance readings of sender.
