Fuel Pump wiring

Hello. I'm in process of trying to get this new to me boat running safely.
My question has to do with proper wiring of the fuel pump. I have a 1996 Crownline 225br with a 454 Mercruiser. (serial # F810329)

I replaced the electric Edelbrock fuel pump 2 times. The previous owner had wired it direct from the ignition switch and grounded it to the battery. Not sure if that's why it burned up. But I've have read that this is unsafe.

My questions:
  1. Should the purple wire be connected to the + post on the coil? (see pic1)
    1. Can you tell me what this wire does?
  2. Should I run a wire from + post on coil to oil pressure switch or should I run a wire from yellow/purple wire? (see pic 2)
  3. In pic 3, I think this is the oil pressure switch. Can you recommend how I would tie this in from the starter I terminal? The oil pressure switch only has one blue wire. (see pic 3)
Thank you for your help.

I am responding from my phone so I cannot upload any schematics but,

Pic 3 is the Knock Sensor, NOT oil pressure.

The purple wire off ignifion switch is the same as the purple wire at coil.

If this engine had an electric fuel pump originally, then on the other side of the engine from pic 3, look and there should be a fitting with an oil pressure switch and several wires.

The safety issue is the pressure switch is needed to kill pump if loss of oil pressure.

there is more to this but for now see if that pressure switch is present
