Fuel line came off

Over the weekend the fuel line on my 60hp 4cycle bigfoot came loose from the tank and drop into the water.The engine coughs but wont start now. emptied fuel bowl but left in same filter, still no start. Next step?

did the motor run til it died sucking the water into it?

Remove the spark plugs, trip the lanyard kill switch to disable the ignition, crank the engine at 10 second intervals (wait 1 min. between intervals to keep from cooking the starter) while spraing WD-40 into the carbs to displace any water.
