1) Are the magnets built into the flywheel, are they just glued on so you can see them. Removed a flywheel and they must be in the casting itself, I cannot see anything except the metal of the flywheel.
2) Is there a way to check how many magnets there are?
3) Is the number of magnets = to the number of poles?
4) The Tach set at 5 = 12 pole which is 12 magnets I think?
I believe this should be set at 4, for 10 poles according to:
Faria Tach literature. (All 2 cylinders less than 70 HP = 10 Pole) OB ALT SWITCH SETTING - 7000 RPM Tach
1 - 4 POLE
2 - 6 POLE
3 - 8 POLE
4 - 10 POLE
5 - 12 POLE
SLIGHTLY DEPRESS WHILE TURNING

There are 5 magnets in the flywheel which will give you 10 poles. Set your tach to position 5 unless Faria has changed everything.
