Like to know where is the knock sensor located on this 7.4 GSI, 2000, Engine will only start after a 12 to 24hrs stop. Was told by a (tech ?) when by-passed it will start all the time. Also said It was not available anymore.. Is the module with fins part of this knock sensor?Your help will be appreciated.

On the 2000 5.7 it is on the lower starboard side of the block, mid way. But I would think you tech is feeding incorrect info as the basic purpose of the knock sensor is to detect knocking and send a signal to the ECU to retard timing. The engine needs to be running for it to work and I have never heard of a no-start issue tied to the knock sensor. Have you checked your electric fuel pump?
