Fast idle not working Tohatsu 90

Posting for a friend,

New push pull cables, fast idle is not working like it should when the leaver is pulled up it only increases right at the end of the throw of the leaver but will not decrease the idle.

bit of play in the cable is the a way to set it to remove the play on my an evinrude the is a little thing that can be turned to pull the cable back. Don’t know enough on this setup to help.

Sounds like the throttle cable is not adjusted properly. When rigging these, have the control in N and disconnect the clevis at the motor and confirm it is at idle. The clevis should then just barely slip onto the clevis pin. Unlock the stop nut and adjust plastic clevis until it is, then re-tighten the nut.
