exhaust crossover

I blocked the exhaust crossover on the manifold by packing it tightly with aluminum foil. It has worked fine, runs great as before. Now I am going to install a new manifold and would like to block the crossover more permanently. I understand welding is problematic on cast iron. Any ideas?
LM318B, 1980 with raw water cooling.

Filling it with molten lead is the usual method. Pack the opening with aluminum foil, as a damn, then pour the lead in. A half inch of so of lead is enough.

Buick, did you use only the JB Weld to plug the passage?

No i used foil first then poured the JB in.

That should work fine, for the heat inside there is below the temp that bothers epoxy.
