Hey all, I have just bought a 1986 Evinrude 90. Its in great shape and runs great. Iv got it set up in my barn and I was wondering if there was anyway to get any more power from it because Iv heard alot will swap from the 115's. Any help is much appreciated.
 
You will hear lots of stories and they are just that " fairy tales " !!------------The 90 HP block has smaller intake ports and bolting 115 HP carburetors and exaust manifold on may not get you the results you are hoping for.
 
You would have to take the engine apart to open up the intake ports.------------That would allow more air from bigger carburetors and " tuned exhaust manifold " to flow through the engine.------You could install the bigger carburetors if you can get a set reasonably priced and see what it will do.-----What is the compression on this new to you motor ?
 
I havent checked, iv known the family that used it and it was hardly ever used and stored every winter, i doubt it ever saw full throttle
