Evinrude 6hp Fisherman Magneto

I have two Evinrude 6hp Fisherman. A 1967 short shaft and a 1973 longshaft. I took the magnetos off to service them and when i reassembled them , both would only turn the motor when i pulled the starter rope would not turn the motor over with the flywheel tightened properly. They would turn over with the flywheel loose. I have taken off and replaced
many magnetos before with no issues. Any ideas on what i am doing wrong.

I forgot to say also with the flywheel loose the magneto would spin past the cam follower if that helps. Thanks again.

Coils are extending outwards too far and dragging on flywheel magnets. Don't know what to say about post #2
