Engine starter

I need to replace my volvo penta gen 5 starter. The screws are extremely tight and I have not been able to take it out. Are there any special tools to perform this job?

Before you replace the starter, make sure that its not a defective "slave solenoid"... i.e. that engine mounted relay that energizes the starter...
