Engine stalling after making a few runs

I have a really strange issue with my Evinrude 115 hp Intruder motor. When I first get to the lake it runs fine at first. After I make 3 different runs to fishing areas and let the motor set idle while I fish; the next time I start the motor, it starts fine but dies when I put it in gear and try to throttle up. It seems to run fine in neutral; I can rev the motor and it sounds fine but dies when I put it in gear. This happens repeatedly until finally it seems to "catch" and I am able to gradually get up to speed. Any thoughts?

Have you tried to prime the fuel bulb prior to starting the engine then taking off? My 1996 Evinrude 150 was acting similar to yours. I tested the primer bulb and found the check valve was bad and it was allowing the fuel to flow back into the tank. A new primer bulb fixed my problem.
