Electrical System Question 25 HP Mariner SeaPro 1993

Dear Members,
I replaced the rectifier on my 93 Mariner 25HP. The system is functioning properly(charges and Tac works).

My question is:
Would I cause damage to the rectifier/charging system if I "hard wire(terminal rings on battery) an external battery charging unit and leave the battery electrically connected to the engine/boat systems during the charging of the battery?
I bought the Cabela's HD 12 amp Two Bank Pro Series On Board Marine Battery Charger.

It won't affect the rectifier/charging system at all because the on board charger turns itself off when the bateries are fully charged. I've used OBCs for years along w/millions of other boaters.
