Electric solenoid

J40tplees - How does the electric choke/solenoid function. I put a battery to it and it clicks or taps once. It has a push in key barrel that is to be depressed for 5 seconds but I do not believe it is getting power to solenoid so I by passed it and put the battery to it as stated above. Any suggestions? Thanks

id say it may be bad or you have something wired up wrong.....

If it clicks then the valve and wiring is working for you.-----It is a simple " electric valve "------When engine is cranking there is fuel pressure supplied to that valve.---When the key is pushed in while cranking the motor over the fuel is sprayed into the intake manifold.-------I have no idea why some folks push the key in for 5 seconds BEFORE cranking the motor over.----If there is no fuel pressure this valve does " nothing " at all.----It can also be used manually by turning the red lever 90 degrees and squeezing the bulb.
