Electric blue leg oil

I just changed the leg oil on my 1991 8HP Johnson, a motor I originally picked up for parts, but turned into a runner.
The oil that came out was blue, not just blue like you see with Nautilus Shell 2 stroke oil, but almost an “electric blue”, if that makes sense. I can only describe it as “shiny”, sort of like you’d see with metallic automotive paint.
No, it was not a result of being full of metal, & nothing was stuck on the magnetic drain plug.
Anyone know what oil this might be, & is it synthetic?
Ive heard it’s not good to mix synthetic with regular gear oil. I’ve got several litres of Canadian Tire marine gear oil, & some of the Mercury stuff for lower powered motors.
If I let the leg drain for an hour or so, am I OK to fill with one of the above oils?
