Drive shaft nut removal

I have a 60 hp Mariner, the forward gear and te inion are damaged.
I tried to take the assembly apart but I am having difficulty undoing the nut at the bottom of the driveshaft.I am wondering if it's a left hand thread or do I need a special wrench? It's kind of ackward to access. Appreciate any suggestions.

It's right handed. You need to pry up the locking tab and use a 6 point socket. I jam the breaker bar and socket in place with a wooden wedge and turn the driveshaft to get them out.
