Do I Fuse ?

I just purchased a boat with a Motor Guide Trolling X3 motor. I do not know if the X3 has a built in fuse some place, and I see no fuse holder on the batteries. Should I add one? And if so what kind and size?
The same is true for my Lawrence Elate 5 depth finder.
Do I need to fuse on both? And what would you recommend?

When I was rigging boats for a living, we always used circuit breakers for the trolling motors...as far as size, you'll have to look up the max draw for your particular X3...I always preferred the MIL_SPEC versions....they are expensive but tolerate the marine environment very well.

On the fish finder, we always fused them...again, size determined by the electronics OEM...
