Df70. Setting timing using timing marks

Can anyone help me with this question?
I see that the manual recommends taking the flywheel off to set initial timing on crankshaft. Can I simply use the Index mark on the plastic cover; line it up with the 10 degree below top dead center index mark in the flywheel? Surely if I mark the block at this point then if correctly aligned with the cam shaft set up per manual this will be close enough to get engine started?

We replaced the damaged cylinder head and now need to set timing.
I dont think a digital EFI system has any sort of timing adjustment as it goes off the TPS and other sensors/gear counter coil. as long as the flywheel is aligned on its key, and the camshaft timing is correct i think it should be perfect but not sure what the manual says exactly? the marks are most likely to just provide a way to check timing if its not advancing properly due to a fault
