I just restored an old 20 ' shrimp trawler and I rebuilt the haulback winch.It is powered with a 12 volt Leeson 40 amp motor.Originally it had an old starter relay to engage the motor that turns the winch.I replaced the relay and they keep burning out.I only run the winch for 5-7 min. at a time 3 or 4 times a trip.
Question: Can I start the winch motor without using a starter relay?
