cracked gearbox johnson 1978 70hp

trying to bring a pride albatross back to life . all going well except the 70hp johnson has some significant cracks in the gearbox casing. Rumour has is it that these motors can be run with some gearbox casing cracks without too many issues. Any comments would be muchly appreciated....

Good boat the ole pride got the gazzelle, cracks in anything cant be a good thing. Whats the comp like on it? There are some on gumtree depending where you are. That hull will perform better with more hp.

Not sure onthe compression yet. Amazing that it started (new fuel lines onl) after 16 years in a paddock.
