I am a new boat owner and it didn't come with a boat or engine manual so apologize for the dumb question. I have a 2002 Mercury 150XL SWB engine.
I had previously taken the boat out twice since I purchased it (once during sea trial and once afterwards) with no issues.
I just took it out again the other day (after sitting for approx 1.5 months) and when I turned the ignition switch, it started beeping. It is a constant beeping (not the 4 beeps every 2 minute low oil warning that I read about). Someone said it could be an overheating alarm but that didn't seem to make sense to me since it started beeping as soon as I turned the key (cold engine).
I am not mechanically inclined but don't want to get "taken for a ride" by a mechanic trying to make a buck.
Any help/tips/etc would be appreciated.
Side note: Engine manual is on order!
