Cobra to DP-S possible?

There is a possibility that I can get my hands on a DP-SM upper/lower for not much. I see there is a transom conversion part that is about $800 which allows an SX to bolt on to the Cobra transom. Is this something that might work? That is, the SX gimbal to the DP-SM drive? Does the shift cable need to be changed or reworked somehow? Just wondering. Thanks.

You'll want to double check re; the DP-SM..... typically, the DP-S is used for this conversion.

Yes.... the shift cable now makes a direct connection to the upper drive unit, totally eliminating the ESA and any shift linkage that pertained to the ESA. Basically, the 33C style cable becomes much longer.

Make sure that you choose the correct over-all gear ratio for your engine.

You'll still want to check and see if the DP-SM is a candidate for this. I know that the DP-S is.
