Cobra 4.3 with a 5.7 would it work ok?

I no it will fit wondering if it would be ok to use the drive with a 5.7 in place till main drive gets rebuilt,what about at slow speeds 5knots what do you think guys thanks...

i don't think you can make up the difference with a prop. how long to rebuild? Sei drive with a conversion kit.

Prob another two weeks till I get it,no its these are the standard cobra outdrives my original was on my 24 bayliner with a 5.7 picked up a boat today with a cobra 4.3 powerplant just hate setting....Has anyone tryed this with out damage to the drive
wouldnt think no wake speed should do any damage....

will not damage the drive. just be aware different generations of Cobra had different shift linkage adjustments/dimensions.

You don't say what years but there is a fair difference in the gear ratio (1989)

5.7 1.41:1

4.3 1.68:1

bob your correct on that,that is the overall difference I now have a manual omc owner/operator manual the lower ratios are the same 14:26 the uppees are a slight difference 21:19 for the 4.3 and 21:16 for the 5.7 at no wake speed there should be no damage as long as the linkage is set correctly..Thanks all

Yep you'll be fine, they are both dog clutch drives, depending on how the shift rod was set you may have to adjust a bit for that.
