On a 2008 mercury optimax 225 hp we had an issue with water in fuel and have fixed that successfully but after repair it will not engage forward or reverse. The engine starts and runs perfectly but when selecting forward or reverse nothing happens to engage gears. Looking at things while shifting to forward/reverse the cables and mechanicals appear to travel the normal amount but no gear or prop movement.
There appears to be stored fault codes prior to start up and disconnecting battery does not remove the codes.
Any ideas on what to do next?
