Carbon soot in exhaust

I have a 2001 5.7 TBI which runs well. This weekend after being at anchor for two days I started the engine to have it spew out a large amount of carbon deposits. I revd it and more came out then it stopped . I ran engine for two hours on trip home at 3500 rpm with no issues . As a matter of fact it seemed to run better. ???
 
maybe being on the hook caused something different???

as long as its running well, I wouldn't be too concerned...just keep an eye on things..
