Can an oil pressure sending unit/gauge be put on a 225?

Hi All......I'm thinking this would be a good upgrade since I have 2 open holes in the inst panel.

Can it be done? And how? Right now for gauges I have rpm, volts, water psi, tilt/trim. Don't need a speedo.

If there is physical space, just fit a 'T' type adapter fitting with the oil pressure sender for your new electric gauge in the same place as the pressure sender that the engine uses for oil pressure alarm sending. Haven't done this on a BF225, but have on a number of other engine types. You can buy matched sets of gauge/sender quite easily. Biggest issue is trying to find one that matches your other gauges visually, but it is usually possible.

Have anyone fix oil pressure gauge for bf225 ? i dnt think so it can be, because this engine has 2 oil pressure switch only (low pressure and high pressure ) its give only warning alarm. Correct me if i am wrong . but i think we can install the pressure sensor on the engine, where we install oil pressure testing tool.

otherwise no any signal coming from the engine for fix oil pressure gauge.

So far I've only been able to find the dimensions on one Sierra sensor. It's way too big. If anyone has a lead on a miniature sensor, I'd like to know.

You may need to visit the automotive world to find what you want. Take a look at this ad from SUMMIT RACING PRODUCTS:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-4327

This analog gauge lists a 1/8" pipe thread sender along with a 1/4" npt adapter. I'm sure there are digital options but I didn't "browse".

You may need to call their toll free number to get exact sender measurements.

They also have a tech help line...330-640-0230. They may be able to suggest something that will fit.

Good luck.

According to the ad it should be a three wire sender for 5 volt reference.

IE: 5 volt DC power feed wire from gauge micro processor (or ECM) + ground wire + "reference" or signal return wire (.5 to 4.5vdc).

It is a "standard" OBDII automotive type pressure sender.

Thanks......I'll look into it. I've nearly got these motors all hooked up......not fun work running controls and rigging. Even the snake doesn't want to cooperate sometimes. I'm also going to use CHAWK's instructions for installing cylinder head temp sensors/gauges.

It appears there are 2 thermostats per motor. Why is that? That would mean 4 temp sensors and 4 gauges!?

Yes, there are two t-stats on each engine at the top of each cylinder bank. In the write up I sent, I think I explained that you can get away with one gauge and sensor per engine and that should be on the port side.

If you are going try to plumb in an oil sensor for a gauge, I would recommend try using a simple one, like what is on an inboard/outboard. I do not know whether you are in the US or another country. The key is to match up the sensor (both in PSI and resistance) with with that of the gauge. The resistances differ between USA and Europe. See this chart. http://faria-instruments.com/site_manuals/IS0085E.pdf

For a USA version with 80 psi, this sensor would work http://www.wholesalemarine.com/oil-...2YjI-QLZNVOKTI2JPvF0fgdt0WuU9QKF9OhoCZJDw_wcB

As long as your plumbing was metal fittings and the unit is grounded, you only need to extend one lead to the gauge.

If you go with a Faria Gauge, here is a list of some that would work. You need to choose the 80 psi, in this example, since the sensor is 80 psi. http://faria-instruments.com/products.php?calledGauge=2_press
