Brand new motor turns on warning light after returning to idle

Hi all, just wanted some input on this. We got a brand new tohatsu 20hp outboard and we were at the lake today breaking it in. We ran the 1/2 throttle period with no issues, but when we went to the 3/4 it started acting a little strange. It seemed to go up the 3/4 with no problems, but then when we slowed down again it turned on the warning light. We turned the motor off and restarted it and it went away. It did this repeatedly so I'd like to know the issue. It is slightly over full of oil so I'm going to try and remove some and retest it but any input would be appreciated. Tyia

I would get the oil level to 1/2 way on the dipstick.
